What is a CSA?

A CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture, and is an opportunity for customers to purchase a small share of the next seasons crops. This helps farmers with upfront costs of farming before the crops start to produce sellable items. Read more about how our CSA works below.

Whats the Flax Hollow Farm CSA?

The Flax Hollow Farm CSA starting in 2027 will be run through an online platform called Rooted Farmers. This sets our CSA apart from most CSA or flower subscriptions. Unlike a traditional CSA membership where you get bouquets on a weekly, bi-weekly or monthly basis you instead get to pick and choose throughout our whole season. Each week CSA members receive an email on Mondays with photos and descriptions of that week’s offering. Members can then place orders online by end of the day Wednesday for pick up at our farm that coming weekend. Members have th freedoms to pick up their bouquets from our self service fridge dawn to dusk Friday-Sunday.

How much is the Flax Hollow CSA?

$150 for a membership but you’ll receive $180 worth of credit. Bouquets will generally run $20-$35/bouquets. You’re free to spend your credit as you wish-which generally means each member will receive 5-9 bouquets depending what you choose.

Do I have create a rooted farmers account to be a member?

Yes! Starting in 2027 all CSA memberships will be run through the rooted platform. This new system will allow me to better track sales, offer more specific products, and understand what customers want.

What kind of flowers/bouquets can I expect?

I grow a large array of flowers both annuals and perennials. Each week will bring unique different offerings for customers. Some flowers you’re sure to know and some things you’ve never seen before. We mostly offer premade mixed bouquets but on occasion will offer straight bunches or a mix and match option. I would highly recommend checking out our photos on Facebook or instagram to see a bit of the array of flowers we grow.

When can I use my CSA?

At any point in the 2026 season. It can be used for spring, summer or fall flowers. It’s really up to you! Our season generally starts in the beginning of April and lasts through beginning of October.

What happens if I don’t use all my credit by the end of the season?

Its your responsibility as the costumers to use your CSA to its full potential. If you have unused credit at the end of the season you will not receive a refund or credit for the following year. CSA are to help with the upfront costs farmers face at the start of the season each year. You’re money is directly spend and used for growing specie crops in the 2027 season.
